01 / One serving
How many calories and how much protein are in egg curry?
GymTribe's egg curry with rice is 3 boiled eggs in a gravy of one onion, 150 g of tomato puree, curry powder and a tablespoon of oil, served over 200 g of cooked rice. One 565 g serving is 720 calories, 28 g of protein, 82 g of carbs, 31 g of fat and 6 g of fiber, or about 127 calories and 5 g of protein per 100 g.
Three boiled eggs are about 233 calories and 19 g of protein, the rice about 260 calories and 5 g of protein, and the gravy, mostly the oil, about 228 calories. One boiled egg is about 78 calories and 6 g of protein.
02 / Number of eggs
How many eggs, with the same rice and gravy.
| Calories | Protein | Fat | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 egg | 565 | 15 g | 20 g |
| 2 eggs | 642 | 22 g | 26 g |
| 3 eggs (the recipe) | 720 | 28 g | 31 g |
| 4 eggs | 798 | 34 g | 36 g |
| 6 eggs | 952 | 47 g | 47 g |
The gravy and the rice stay fixed, so each extra egg adds the same 78 calories and 6 g of protein. If you make a bigger pot for more eggs, the gravy grows with it.
03 / What else changes it
Rice, roti, oil and cream.
- How much rice. With 3 eggs: 100 g of cooked rice is about 590 calories, 150 g about 655, 200 g about 720 and 300 g about 850. Rice adds about 1.3 calories per gram, so a heaped plate is the largest swing.
- Roti instead of rice. 50 g of whole-wheat flour as rotis gives about 630 calories and 29 g of protein, about 90 calories fewer than the rice with the same protein.
- The oil in the gravy. A tablespoon of oil is about 120 calories, more than half of the gravy's 228. Cooking with less is the cleanest cut.
- Cream. A tablespoon of cream stirred in adds about 50 calories, taking the recipe to about 771.
04 / Logging it
How to log your own egg curry.
Find egg curry with rice in the GymTribe food catalog and set the amount you ate. If you ate a different number of eggs or more rice, log the curry and the extras as separate foods, or photograph the plate with the AI calorie counter and check the portion before saving.
For eggs without the gravy, see egg bhurji and egg protein and calories.
Keep it simple
Count the eggs, weigh the rice.
Those two numbers decide the plate. The gravy is a fixed amount for the pot. These numbers come from GymTribe's recipes; they are estimates, not medical or clinical nutrition advice.
